Eneco waste heat

Eneco is completing a large scale heating project within the region of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. This makes waste heat from energy plants re-usable as heating for houses within Rotterdam and Schiedam. Therefore smart grids are critical to make an efficient use of this durable energy. Since climate control is using a significant part of our energy consumption within our houses, initiatives such as this are very useful to reduce green house gasses over a longer period of time. The project of Eneco has an annual saving of 95 kilotons CO2.

With this idea Senseable City Lab developed an infrared heater that tracks visitors and keeps them warm. An interesting idea what could possibly save a lot of energy.

A domestic robot is no longer future music, soon it will be available on the market. His name is Jibo and he can speak, see, hear, learn, help and make relations. Thanks to a combination of a specialized team and advanced techniques this multifunctional robot will be an affordable product on the market. It may have no physical abilities for domestic help, but it does have an advanced social skill. Follow this project through kickstarter or on their website.

M3D Micro printer

Many companies try to develop their 3D printer through kickstarter. In many cases promotors fail to get their finances in order to launch their product. This is definitely not the case of the M3D Micro printer.  The product exceeded over 68 times their intended crowdfuncding target. Said, the product looks promising and costs only 350 US dollars. The M3D Micro printer could be an affordable tool for every designers. Even within Snap Solutions' office there will be an exemplar of the 3D printer, at least if the product fits its expectations.

This is also thanks to the thousands of hobbyists who built their own (extrusion) DIY printers to experiment. Also the professional printers who work with powder develop fast. 3D Systems launched a 3D printer in 2013 which can print in full colour.
